The Goodness and Severity of God

Topic
Introduction: Rom. 11:22, Deut. 11:26-28 (Paul tells us to take not of the goodness and severity of God. God has been good to the obedient and severe to the disobedient. Thus God sets before man a blessing and a curse. A blessing to the obedient and a curse to the disobedient.)

Goodness Of God:

    1. Naaman: 2 Kings 5:1-14 (Naaman was not of Israel and had no claim to God's love yet God loved him and gave him a plan. He was not cleansed from his leprosy until he obeyed the plan.)

    2. The Three Hebrews: Dan. 3:1-30 (Even though times seemed horrible, God was still expressing his goodness by delivering them from the furnace.)

Today:
    1. God Will Save You If You Obey: Rev. 22:14

    2. God Will Free You From Sin If You Obey: Rom. 6:17-18

    3. God Will Purify You If You Obey: 1 Pet. 1:22

    4. God Will Dwell In You If You Obey: 1 Jn. 3:24, Rom. 8:9 (Having Christ in us is a blessing because it identifies you as his child.)

Severity Of God:
    1. Nadab And Abihu: Lev. 10:1-2 (Even a seemingly insignificant matter as fire is important to God. God expects obedience in the smallest matters.)

    2. Uzzah And The Ark: 1 Chron. 13:1-10 (Even thought it seemed right to all the people, their actions were still wrong. Even though they were doing a good work, the wrong way they went about it invoked God's wrath.)

    3. Pharaoh: Exo. 5:2, Exo. 7:-12: (Pharaoh refusal to obey God brought the wrath of God in ten plagues.)

Today:
    1. He Will Spew You Out If You Disobey: Rev. 3:13-16

    2. You Will Be Lost If You Disobey: II Thes. 1:7-9

Conclusion: Lk. 13:24 (You must strive to enter eternal life by diligently seeking to do God's will.)
